MLS stars aim to impress World Cup-bound Argentina boss

Inter Miami's Higuain hoping to add to Argentina squad

Inter Miami striker Gonzalo Higuain is hoping to catch the eye of Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni and earn a place in the World Cup squad following his move to the MLS.

Higuain, 34, left Juventus in the summer and has scored four goals in 12 appearances for his new club.

He has not played for Argentina since 2019, but he is hoping that his form in the MLS will be enough to convince Scaloni to give him a chance.

Philadelphia Union's Gazdag hoping to earn Hungary call-up

Philadelphia Union midfielder Daniel Gazdag is hoping to earn a call-up to the Hungary squad for the World Cup.

Gazdag, 26, has been in impressive form for the Union this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in 30 appearances.

He has been capped by Hungary at Under-21 level, but he is hoping to make his senior debut at the World Cup.

LAFC's Vela hoping to lead Mexico to World Cup glory

LAFC striker Carlos Vela is hoping to lead Mexico to World Cup glory in Qatar.

Vela, 33, is Mexico's all-time leading scorer in the MLS, with 78 goals in 137 appearances.

He has been capped by Mexico 100 times, and he is hoping to make a major impact at the World Cup.

Other MLS stars hoping to impress

A number of other MLS stars are hoping to impress their national team coaches and earn a place in the World Cup squad.

These include Atlanta United's Thiago Almada, Seattle Sounders' Jordan Morris and FC Dallas' Paul Arriola.

The MLS season runs from March to October, so these players will have plenty of time to show what they can do before the World Cup starts in November.
