Blues Name Schenn Captain

Longtime Forward Becomes 24th Player to Wear the 'C'.

Schenn Scored 104 Points Last Season, Helping Blues Reach Stanley Cup Final.

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The St. Louis Blues have named Brayden Schenn as their next captain, the team announced on Monday. Schenn becomes the 24th player to wear the 'C' for the Blues, and the first since Alex Pietrangelo was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights in 2020.

Schenn, 29, has been with the Blues since 2017, when he was acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers in a trade. He has quickly become a key player for St. Louis, scoring 104 points last season and helping the team reach the Stanley Cup Final.

"Brayden is a natural leader on and off the ice," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "He is a great example for our young players and is committed to winning. We are confident that he will be a great captain for our team."

Schenn said he is honored to be named captain of the Blues.

"This is a dream come true," Schenn said. "I love this team and this city, and I am committed to doing everything I can to help us win a Stanley Cup."

Schenn will make his debut as captain when the Blues open the regular season on October 12 against the Colorado Avalanche.

Conclusion: Schenn's appointment as captain is a sign of the Blues' confidence in him as a leader and a player. He is a talented forward who has quickly become a key part of the team's success. With Schenn leading the way, the Blues are hoping to make another run at the Stanley Cup this season.
